Stuck in VT 170: Slam for Sudan

3/25/10: High school varsity basketball players from all over the state of VT competed Thursday in the 2nd Annual Slam for Sudan. About $2000 was raised for the local non-profit Global Reach Partnerships which helps Sudanese refugees with a variety of life skills. Slam for Sudan began as a class project at Champlain College and two years later is bringing together the local Sudanese community with slam dunking VT All-Stars. With 55 seconds to go in the 5A state championship game, one of the best players in the nation, North Crowley guard Willie Warren, caught a long pass and drove in for an uncontested tomahawk dunk. With it, he also ended Dulles’ hopes of bringing home a state championship.
