NBA Ref Tim Donaghy Assaulted

Former NBA referee Tim Donaghy was assaulted in prison. The assault came after fellow inmate reportedly attacked him during his 15-month sentence in federal prison. He was struck in the right knee with a paint rolling stick last November.

The MRI exam showed a tear of the lateral meniscus and a cyst on his knee. But it was reported that he was denied treatment because doctor’s said the injury was a congenital condition.

Donaghy has worked for thirteen NBA seasons. He resigned from the league on July 9, 2007 after allegations the he bet on games that he officiated making calls affecting the game’s outcome.
