Being an NBA referee is perhaps one of the most hectic jobs in the world. Players and coaches yell to you and constantly complain each call they don’t agree with. After all, there are no players and coaches admit that they committed a violation.

As such, an NBA referee deserves a good amount of monetary value in exchange for the services they gave to the league. Each year, a referee earns anywhere from $90,000 to $225,000 for their work. As they gain seniority, their pay raises with some top officials earning up to $400.000 dollars a year.

If they are chosen to officiate an NBA playoff game, their pay increases as well in addition to the bonuses they will receive.

Phil Jackson is still waiting for the NBA to show transparency in officiating games. He spoke before Friday’s Game 6 of the Western Finals against Denver saying:

“This is the dawn of a new age, we were told in the last two years. Transparency, a wonderful word, was going to be used, and we’re looking for that to help us. In that regard, we want to use all these aspects, whether it’s called credibility or accountability, and use it to improve everything that can happen to this game, because it’s a great game.”

I think NBA must act immediately on the issue before the NBA Finals start.

The NBA admitted that game officials erred for not calling an intentional foul on Dallas Mavericks. The mistake led to a three-point conversion by Carmelo Anthony that gave the Denver Nuggets the victory to take a 3-0 lead Saturday night.

Dallas was leading two points and still has one foul to give. The play began with Carmelo Anthony handling the ball with less than 8 seconds left. Mavericks’ Antoine Wright created a contact twice but referees didn’t blow their whistles.

One thing for sure – Mark Cuban is definitely very upset of this incident. And he isn’t afraid to slam the league again and again even with fines.
