Team Detroit Wins Haier Shooting Stars Competition

Team Detroit took home the trophy as they beat Team Phoenix in the Haier Shooting Stars Competition. Team Detroit now has won twice in the last three years of the contest.

On the final round, Team Phoenix who were composed of Leandro Barbosa, Dan Majerle, and Tangela Smith hit their first five shots in just 14 seconds. But it was on the halfcourt that the team was having trouble as they needed 20 attempts to finally sink a shot. Unfortunately, Team Detroit was already celebrating a victory for their team.

As for Team Detroit, it took them 13 attempts to make their first five shots but they needed only seven tries to hit one from the halfcourt. Detroit Shock’s Katie Smith drained her third try from the mid-court. Teaming up with Smith was Bill Laimbeer and Aaron Afflalo.

Team San Antonio and Team Los Angeles were eliminated on the first round. It took a time of 1:06 and 1:16 respectively for them to finally complete the shooting spots. Team San Antonio who was composed of David Robinson, Tim Duncan and Becky Hammon finished third and Team Los Angeles who was composed Derek Fisher, Lisa Leslie and Michael Cooper finished fourth.
